But insurance companies know who files lawsuits and who is willing to take their clients case to trial. This matters to you if you want maximize how much money you get for your case because even if you are sure you are going to settle before filing a lawsuit, you want an accident lawyer the insurance companies think may be willing to file a lawsuit. In other words, the insurance company does not know who is bluffing and who is not. But if your lawyers are always bluffing in every case, the insurance company does know that.

Realistically, it also matters which county is appropriate for your lawsuit. Assuming your case is large enough for a jury trial, If you are in Baltimore City or Prince George’s County, you have a greater likelihood of getting a reasonable offer than if you are in, for example, Howard County or Wicomico County (Salisbury) because insurance companies realize that counties differ in how much a jury will award – even for the same case.
